Course Description and Start Times

The course is flat with a mix of grass, pavement & boardwalk – most of it runs on pavement. Both races use the same Start & Finish. The 5k is the second half of the 10k.

To get to the race on time, you must take the Centre Island ferry no later than 10 a.m.

Kids 1k Fun Run ages 2-5 10:00 a.m. ages 6-10 10:20 a.m. (warm up at 9:30)
5k 10:45 a.m.
10k 11:15 a.m.

Water station & Port-a-Potties available in the starting area.

Where is the Start? Is the course map available?

The 10/5k starts On centre Island at waters edge, south of the children’s playground and just west of the bicycle rental shop. The 5k run follows the last half of the 10k course.

Is the race Chip-Timed?

YES! Your timing chip will be embedded in your race bib. NOTE: Awards based on Gun Time – no duplication of awards.

Open/Masters overall awards are based on gun time. Age group awards are based on chip time

Medical / First-aid Available?

Yes. We have 3 paramedics, two on course, and one at the finish line. A doctor at the finish line. An Epipen is available here in the event of an allergic reaction to a bee sting. EMS ambulance on call at the Island Fire Station.

We have:

A dedicated Advanced Care Paramedic Crew (with ambulance) from Toronto Paramedic Services at the finish area.

Two mobile Primary Care Paramedics from Odyssey Medical.

Additional volunteer staff including Paramedics and Registered Nurses equipped with two additional defibrillators that staff the finish area and first aid tent.

Where do I register my kids for the Fun Run?

Children can be registered on-line when you register yourself or individually. They can also be registered in person at The Runners Shop any time, at race kit pick up (Sept 9 and10th) or on race day. Although we will do our best there are no guarantees your child will receive a shirt if they register after August 31.

Do you have a day-care area for the youngsters?

– No

Is there a warm-up?

Yes. The warm up for all participants (kids and adults) is at 9:30 am at the Pavilion! , let by the fabulous Dione Mason from Zumba Fitness.

Where is the Start of the 1K Kid’s Fun Run?

There are two starts and start times for the kids races. The 2-5 year old race will begin at 10:00 a.m. and start in the grassy area south of the Pavilion/west of Franklin’s garden. A pied piper will lead the children to the race start from the pavilion. The 6-10 year old race will start at the 5/10k start line at 10:20 a.m.

Where is the Finish?

The 10/5k finish approx 200m south of the pavilion, near the Saturn playground.

Where is race day Kit pick up?

Located at the shelter/pavilion west of the Centre Island fountain. Race day entry fee – $60.00

Is Race Day Registration Available?

Yes, but only if the race has not sold out. The race has sold out the past three years, so best not to hedge your bets on this one.

I picked up the wrong T-shirt size at the store kit pick-up…can I exchange it…?

Go to the pavilion kit pick-up area after the race. An exchange can be made if the size is available.

Where is the Bag Check?

Look for the sign at the shelter/pavilion. It gets very busy – so we urge you to check your gear soon after arriving on site.

Are there bike racks onsite?

None available. Both runners & race crew are responsible for securing their bikes.

Are there washrooms/showers available?

Washrooms located in the centre of the shelter. Port-a-potties at the start. Washrooms also close to the finish at the lakeside food/bike rental pavilion. Showers not available.

Where will the results be posted?

On the wall beside registration at the pavilion (when ready). Later posted online at EnfieldTiming.com & www.longboatroadrunners.com

Is the course accurate?

Yes! The Longboat Island Run is accredited by Athletics Ontario as a Class ‘AAA’ race. The course has been nationally certified by Athletics Canada/Run Canada, ON-2014-088-BDC for the 5k and ON-2014-089-BDC for the 10 k

Is the course closed to the public.

No…the city won’t allow it. We have lead cyclists for both the 5 & 10k runs. Pay attention to the course marshals wearing brightly coloured marshal shirts.

Where are the water stations?

3K: Site 107 on the grass south of Hanlan’s Point.
5K; Near the Island School.
7K: Island Fire Station.
Finish: Water & Honeymaxx available just beyond the Finish chute.

Is there a Lost & Found?

Yes! Check with the Awards area.

Can I buy BBQ/Picnic tickets for family & friends?

Yes! Picnic free to all entrants. Extra tickets can be purchased at the Picnic. Food/refreshments include: Hamburgers/hot dogs both meat & veggie,  bananas,  apples,  assorted cookies,  juice.

Awards’ Ceremony? How do I qualify for the Draw Prizes?

Your race bib will come with a raffle prize tear-off at the bottom of the bib. Just drop it in the box at the pavilion. You must be present to win. Awards’ Ceremony for the 5/10k starts at approx 1pm at the Pavilion. Lots of room to relax here while enjoying your post run lunch!

How often does the Centre Island ferry return to the mainland?

Every half hour until 7:30pm. Then every 45’.

I would like to take part, but am not up to running. Can I walk?

Yes…keep in mind though that there are no ‘Walk Categories’ in either race. There is a time limit of 1 hr and 40 minutes in the 10k. We encourage walkers to participate in our 5k. Course closes at 12:55

After the race/awards what else can we do on the Island?

CENTREVILLE – Family Activity area. Bike rentals available at the Centre Pier. Frisbee Golf Course. Canoe rentals. Tennis courts. (Clothing Optional beach near Hanlan’s Point!)

Can I run with my dog?


Can I run with a jogging stroller?

Yes you can but for safety reasons we ask you to start at the back.
